Hearthlight Studio

Hearthlight began the way a lot of good things do — with one impossible photograph. Our founder, Han Da-eun, was trying to get her own newborn nephew, two exhausted parents and a wildly uncooperative toddler into a single calm frame, and realised that the studios she'd worked in were built for equipment, not for families. So in 2018 she opened a room in Seongsu with one enormous north-facing window and almost nothing else, and built the whole practice around that soft, forgiving daylight.

Since then we've photographed thousands of the milestones that don't announce themselves as milestones — the ten-day-old who will never be this small again, the graduate who suddenly looks like an adult, the founder who finally has a headshot they don't hate, the family that hasn't all been in one picture since the wedding. Every session is unhurried on purpose, because relaxed people make photographs you actually want to hang.

We photograph almost everything in natural light, retouch with a gentle hand, and treat a session as the beginning rather than the end — helping you turn favourites into framed wall art, heirloom albums and gift prints, professionally finished and delivered to your door. We'd rather give you fifteen photographs you'll love for decades than three hundred that live forgotten on a hard drive.

The studio stays deliberately small: one photographer with you from your first message to your final print, so nothing gets handed off and nobody has to be reintroduced to your family.
